Sign up here to join the Urbana compost drop-off program and choose your site. You will receive an email and invite to your WasteNot account after signing up.
Your participation will help to divert compostable waste from landfills.

Once you sign up, you can bring your compostables to the drop-off point you choose. Empty your waste at the site and our team will collect and compost the material.

What can i compost with wastenot?
Here’s everything you need to know about what can be composted in Champaign-Urbana.

If it has ever been alive, you can compost it! All food scraps (even meat and bones!) can be safely composted in your WasteNot receptacle of choice.

Pizza boxes, paper towels, and any 100% paper products are compostable with WasteNot.

Look for “certified compostable” when looking to see if your plastic products can be composted. Avoid composting products that advertise as “biodegradable” or “plant-based” without explicit mention of compostable certification.

To get access to the drop off location, it costs $15/month.

After you sign up, WasteNot will email you with instructions on how to access the drop off location.
Once you are signed up, you can log into your member portal to view instructions and the code for the drop-off site.
The location is open 24/7 to public access.

Generally speaking, “if it grows, it goes!” Anything once living can be composted. At WasteNot, we are able to accept a wide variety of items due to being on the industrial level. To view what’s compostable with WasteNot, check out our guide here.

Just a few things! Pet droppings, excessive liquids, plastics (including wrappers), metals, excess yard waste, and glass can’t be composted.

WasteNot’s Chicago operations team services Urbana utilizing our 100% electric fleet. The compostable material from the Urbana drop-off program is brought to our partners at EPA permitted composting facilities.
